A&M-SA Journalism Internships

Success Stories: Meet Victoria Arredondo

Updated: May 10

Victoria Arredondo, an aspiring journalist and a senior at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, is majoring in English and communications and minoring in psychology. Victoria received her associate degree from Palo Alto College along with her high school diploma in 2018 from Frank L. Madla Early College High School.

Victoria discovered an interest in journalism when she took a Reporting class at TAMUSA. In fall 2023, she was hired as a staff member at The Mesquite, the student-produced news site on campus. That same semester, she agreed to cover stories for The Devine News as part of her “beat” assignments in the Reporting class.

Victoria was a shoe-in for the spring internship, which she began in January 2024. So far, her stories have included a profile of a new school district superintendent, coverage of a Natalia City Council meeting and a look at how the solar eclipse would affect traffic in Devine.

In her downtime, Victoria enjoys reading, writing poetry and short stories, watching horror movies and spending time with friends. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in journalism.

Meanwhile, we already have another student waiting in the wings as a possible summer 2024 intern. Please join us in supporting this campaign!
